Temperatures on the Tibetan plateau can vary according to the altitudes you are traveling at: as low as 10 degrees-minus Celsius at above 15,000 feet in winter. While the best time to visit Tibet in from May to October, one should prepare for all eventualities and vagaries of the weather. Warm clothing is a must while a raincoat and a folding umbrella between end of Spring to early Autumn is advisable. Hardy but comfortable footwear with casual attire is best. If you anticipate taking part in the occasional party such as may be given our Tibet agents on arrival or departure, then you might bring alone a jacket and tie.
