Hotel facilities in Tibet used to be very basic but with the influx of a greater number of foreign visitors and the Chinese government’s presently liberal policies on tourism, hotels in Lhasa and major cities and large towns now boast of modern amenities such as telecommunications, air-conditioning, hot water and laundry services. All these services are provided at hotels booked by travel agencies authorized by the Tibet Tourism Board (TTB).

Mountain Legend runs trips in Tibet with the co-ordination and support of our registered and fully authorized local handlers based in Lhasa. As for the supporting team of Guides/camp staff, there are two options: either Mountain Legend will provide a full Sherpa team with essential equipment and food supplied from Nepal who will travel from Kathmandu to Tibet via the Sino-Nepal border point of Kodari. Or a Tibetan team from Lhasa will look after the Group for the entirety of the Tibet trip. The Tibet agent can provide Tibetan guides who speak English and who are experienced in caring for groups, especially in areas where local language and knowledge of the area’s particular culture are essential. There is only the difference in costs of transportation, equipment, food supplies and allowances for the team members.

Qualities of vehicles, facilities and changes in the itineraries in Tibet are beyond the control of Mountain Legend dut to a variety of reasons such as inclement weather, road conditions or prevailing political conditions. The agent whom we co-ordinate with in Tibet reserves the right to change itineraries without prior information.
